For a memory boost…the eyes have it
Moving your eyes from side to side for 30 seconds every morning can boost memory by up to 10 per cent, a study suggests. Students who took part in the eye exercise tests found that their memory recall was boosted by a spot of eye jiggling. The exercises work, it is thought, because the eye movements cause the two hemispheres of the brain to interact more efficiently with each other.

Over a million diabetic Brits at risk of heart disease
A report from the charity Diabetes UK said many diabetics are failing to reach recommended target levels for blood pressure and cholesterol. As a result, 80 per cent of the 2.2 million diabetics in Britain were likely to die from cardiovascular disease (CVD). Diabetes UK called for greater public awareness of the strong link between the disease and cardiovascular risk.

One injection a year to beat brittle bones
A routine annual injection could protect millions of osteoporosis sufferers from broken bones. Scientists have developed a drug which would be administered intravenously in hospital for 15 minutes, once a year. They claim it is just as effective as the pills which sufferers take weekly or monthly.

Bedside manner ‘gives women edge’
Women's better bedside manner makes them more likely than men to pass medical exams, a study suggests. The UK study showed women had the edge over men generally because they were better at communicating with patients and examining them in clinical tests.
