As many visitors of the webcameron forum have stated, nobody who is not already looking are finding this website.
some of the videos David has posted were filmed without the press knowing, although i think this is a great approach, showing a genuine interest and real fact finding, its not going to work without the videos ever having been viewed afterwards.
After posting this topic you might have figured im a Tory supporter,and have been for a number of years, yet i only found out about conservativehome.com yesterday!!
if tory supporters arent finding these websites, how can we expect that anyone else will?
if you have any ideas on how we can spread the word, speak/type out here!
there is a number of myspace profiles dedicated to the conservatives, trying to reach out to the young potential, im not sure if any are official, but they are definitely poorly designed (im a graphic designer, i should know) and arent really taken seriously as a consequence, - profile/social network websites are amazing tools for bands/musicians/artists, alot of my personal favourites wouldnt even exist without the free promotion a few myspace clicks can give them, there is definitely potential in this method!
As a freelance web designer I do often make use of a links page. I find that this can be useful if people start having an attitude of you put my banner on your site I'll put your's on mine. As this can help increase rankings on certain search engine for both sites.
If one looks at how Google ranks sites you will note a weighting system that relies on the number of links (from other sites) to the site being ranked as martin suggests in rather cryptic terms. In simple terms the more links, the higher the ranking. When searching using the keyword 'conservative' webcameron.com is not visible (first 100).
To correct this webcameron should be linked from more Conservative/think-tank sites (than just conservatives.com)
Pretty poor show from the promotion/marketing team.
My father once said 'What's the point of a brilliant site if nobody sees it'!
Advertise the site on billboards (for angry housewives like me) has to be somewhere obvious.
say something like:
Want to read/see/hear what the ‘real’ press don’t show look at webcameron/Iain Dale/Guido/Dizzy and conservativehome (which even I have started to look at :}
I like Iain Dale's blog as well - but not some of the very stupid comments others write under his posts :) Sorry for the "Bushism", but I'm one of them.
