I can't help thinking Portillo is bitter at not becoming Tory leader. He attacks DC in his articles even though he had a similar modernising agenda in his own leadership campaign.

I have been a great admirer of Portillo over the last few years, but this article reads a bit like someone pressing the panic button! Sure, Gordon isn't going to be a soft touch, but a bit of patience from some Tory agitators wouldn't go amiss...
