Has anyone else noticed that Gordon Brown is not doing TV interviews (with the exception of Andrew Marr). What is he afraid of? What is he hiding? Surely he has something to say to the general public who never even voted for him to be the next Prime Minister?

He seems to be getting a rather easy ride in the press at the moment. I think he's sitting back and enjoying the fun before he goes into Number 10.

Hate to try to be fair to the guy, but there's not much he can say until 27 June. Hence, the stitch up by the backbenchers to ensure he can't say too much until Tony goes.

Fair to Gordon? That could be tricky he's not really a sort of person you can feel sorry for. I'm half supprised he isn't drinking Gelfling essence.

He's in the news today promising 'Britsh jobs for British workers'. Isn't that breaking certain laws?? Is he saying he would restrict new jobs to British citizens?

All he is doing is making nice... nothing substantial or anything he can be held to... especially after he has voted himself dictatorial powers to override Parliament or the Lords or the Courts.

Read this very interesting blog by Iain Dale about

EXCLUSIVE: How 'Spinning Gordon' Played Politics With Terrorism

Quote:
The fact is that Blair and Cameron had reached agreement on a way forward on using phone tap evidence in court, and Davis had negotiated a way forward with Reid in a number of other areas. It was all set to be announced this Thursday by Reid in a Commons Statement.

Brown's intervention cut across all of this. Reid was left fuming spluttering about Brown playing politics with terrorism and using it for his own purposes. He could hardly be blamed. It is not yet known if Reid will still be making a statement tomorrow, but if he does, it's quite clear that he has been severely undermined.

You mean unlike Tony Blair who does the really tough ones (you know, Richard and Judy, for instance...!)

What are the chances he'll hold a monthly press conference? Although mostly pretty tame affairs, at least we got to hear a regular update on some of the issues de jourfrom Tony.

Blair apology over Cameron terror plan

http://politics.guardian.co.uk/terrorism/story/0,,2099641,00.html

Quote:
Tony Blair has been forced to issue an unprecedented apology to David Cameron after a Tory anti-terrorism initiative was unveiled by Gordon Brown weeks after the Conservative leader passed on the idea in private to the Prime Minister.

An embarrassed Downing Street gave the Prime Minister's apologies to Cameron's office last week after the Tory leader expressed his anger when he found his idea trailed by Brown as a new tool for tackling terrorism

Let's throw out the myth that Gordon Brown has more substance than David Cameron :)

Underestimating Gordon is the biggest threat to the Conservatives in 2007.
The man should be treated with the upmost respect, George Osbournes attempts to take cheap personnal shots at Gordon discredited him and the party. Lets hope Dave dosen't follow his friends example!

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Gordon Brown assured Iraq's leaders on Monday of continued British support as he made a flying visit to Baghdad to "listen and learn" before he takes office later this month.

Why is Gordin only listening NOW? What took him so long? You can always tell when Gordon is trying to spin - he's not very good at it. So - the new buzz words for Gordon in June are 'listen & learn'. Any guesses for July?

We all know this "listen & learn" is grade A agricultural fertilizer.

Brown, like Blair before him, has already made his mind up and will only ever listen to the things he wants to hear.

No way is he going to listen to the majority (I think) of the British people who want and end to Iraqi situation.

Jonjii - is Brown listening to people when they talk about their pensions?

Gordon Brown stole from the poor to give to the rich.

Is he going to rectify this huge mistake?

Canvas I seriously doupt that GB is going to ANYTHING effective to the mess he created by his (now £50Bn) grab.

He is, as you so aptly named him, a fat toad who is going to occupy the job of PM whicle trying to micro-manage everything else from the economy to the Home office, foreign affairs, pensions, the NHS, education etc... and guess what? .. he can't but he can't change his spots either (Pardon the mixed metaphor)

Personally I believe that not only Gordon Brown but the entire Labour Party should be in hiding. I am sickened by the fact that there has not been a general election when Bony Blair decided to step down after all that is what the most honourable thing to do would have been...ooooops, I forgot politics is not about being honourable!

Not sure if Gordon Brown is a misunderstood maths professor (type) or Stalinist, politics (like anything in life) is about timing and I think times up for labour.

Saying that I think in future a strong oppostion should be just as important.

The problem is that each and every government makes mistakes and therefore as bettybalance correctly said a strong opposition is required to call the Government on any crap they might try to pull
