10 Downing Street's e-petitions

Posted by Curly on Monday, 19 February 2007 22:45:26

I find, after receiving my first email from Tony Blair, the whole concept of No. 10's e-petitions to be quite sinister. I call upon Her Majesty's Opposition to demand the destruction of this system for harvesting email addresses, and, for now, an assurance that the addresses already on the database will NOT be used for sending government sponsored propaganda at the time of a general election campaign.

One suspects that If the Conservative Party asked for permission to send a contra message to the Prime Minister's petitioners, the answer would be an emphatic refusal!

Good point Curly although I signed the ID petition and have not received an e-mail from Tony Blair. Strangely though my mother has been subjected to an unusually large number of withheld numbers ringing to ask her to do a survey. (By the Way)
