An exciting twelve months in politics ahead

Leading blogger (and internet TV host) Iain Dale spoke to Webcameron about what he thinks might happen in 2007 – the year in which Gordon Brown seems certain to become the next Prime Minster. Will he have the same enthusiasm for the internet as the Conservatives?

First of all - you are right about West Ham - but Charlton will go down.

Gordon Brown cannot remove himself from the disaster of the Iraq war. He is just as guilty and just as responsible as Tony Blair. However, if we were talking about Robin Cook - well, that would be a different story. But sadly, that's not to be.

I think Gordon Brown is already becoming part of 'the past'. Not long to go until George Bush, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown are history.

I disagree Ian - I think you're right that Hutton might be a contender, but I think one of the envrioncontrolism MPs like David Milliband might be a secret contender for the post of Prime Minister, because some see him as having the youth and vigour that is becoming mandatory for a leadership position in these calculated PR days.

However, whilst Milliband has the look, I don't think he has the pinache, the touch, he comes across as too dry and serious and uninteresting.

I think Millibandism however may take a political stake - if not at the next election, at the election after.

Then we'll all have to ask Milliband's position to flush the loo...otherwise the world might end tomorrow, correct?

I think the next high fliers could be found on this list
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_British_Jewish_politicians
and yes millibands on it
its a shame there are no comparable lists for other faiths

Hi Iain, I dont know much about West Ham's chances but there is one issue I would like to raise and that is this question of G Brown esq just assuming PM responsibilities on a ad hoc basis - he is not even the deputy PM. Should there not be an immediate election the give the electorate an opportunity to rubber stamp his accession to the throne instead of the 'old boy' network operation (I'll stand down to let you have a fling because there's no chance of us winning again) to get Gordon in.
Then there is the question of whether GB is going to be any better at answering PMQs than his proposed predecessor who has made a career out of dodging questions to a point where PMQs have become completely irrelevant.

Making predictions is a dicey business. Iain's prediction about West Ham is already looking shakey...

I know - what's up with West Ham? What a shocker.
