Paul Oginsky is the Chief Executive of the Young Adult Trust, a charity designed to teach young people about their responsibility as adult citizens.

He spoke to Webcameron about the YAT, being proud of the UK's young people and the idea of early adult status.

it would be useful to know the sorts of things people with young adult status would be allowed to do. Also, it's essential for us to know what the early adults would have to have done to achieve this status. I'm all for rasing the drinking age, and the smoking age for that matter. I mean, even being an adult doesn't show you can handle you''re drink; that's all too obvious. The same goes for a lot of the rights adults are given. For example, I also think that however socially responsible a person may be, they still might not be able to cope with certificate 18 horrir movies, because that's a completely different side to adulthood. Therefore, I'll be very interested to see how you will create a course, the completion of which will show people to be "adult" enough for a wide range of different opportunities.
