I was wondering if David Cameron could do something about the problems on London transport system. For example, there are always delays in the tube and we now have industrial action with a bus company (First Group). If nothing is done about it, it would damage businesses in London; I don’t think London is ready for the 2012.

I don't think he would even think about it' certainly not in any first term, the economic problems he is going to inherit will geep him real busy..... Anyway is it not the London mayors problem and duty to sort out? I fear you may be right about the olympics...

But Ken Livingstone is not doing anything about it, we really need Boris to become Mayor of London.

I think the problem of our transport in London needs sorting as it always feels the Tube drivers are on strike. Sometimes i just take my car when the major services are disrupted - and that feels bad to say, i could get somewhere quicker in the car. However, if we all vote Boris i am sure it will be sorted

How sweet!!

Prepare to be disappointed. The London Underground is like most of London's infrastructure, over stretched and crumbling, I rather doubt Boris has a magic wand.

I agree but nobody wants to pay towards it being gradualy brought up to date. Then whatever work is started to do that now! will be out of date by the time its finished..
whatever needs to be done has to have a blank canvas to start with, and thats impossible as we encourage more and more people to use our out of date mode of public transport.

Whatever goverment is in power HAS to find a way of " easing "traveling problems, and people that use it should expect to pay more on a pay as you go basis. You do it with gas, electric, water and telephone, why not travel?

what are you lot on about?

sarah rocks says it always feels like the tubes are on strike, do you even live in london? There has been 1 day this year that was obstructed by strikes (unfortunately this was an exam day for me!! grrrrrrrrrrr).

I'm not a fan of livingstone but to say he is doing nothing is ridiculous, there have been plenty of lines that have been closing early / weekends etc to upgrade the rails etc, there are plans in place to extend platforms and bring in faster trains. This CANNOT happen overnight!!

I travel into central london everyday for work from Wimbledon, along the dreaded northern line (busiest in London) and from my experience there are quite a few days but there appears to be the same number of delays caused by ill / moronic passengers (one idiot pulled the emergency stop at oval yesterday as he was asleep and the doors had just shut and wanted to get off) than are caused by faulty trains though to be fair there are a massive amount of signal failures.

I travel everyday on the District Line and in all honesty it has improved quite markedly over the last 5 years!

ok fair enough.

I've lived out of london and I know the views of a lot of non-londoners is that the tube is crap and is always failing etc, but the fact is its not as bad as what everyone assumes.

I get to work pretty much the same time everyday and unless I am going in and have the one most annoying thing to happen on the northern line (divert via charing cross, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr) then its not that bad!!
