I don't know if anyone has seen the article in the Daily Mail regarding the 53 questions you are going to be asked each time you leave the country but this is going to be part of the so called E-Borders program, another expensive IT project that if the NHS IT disaster is to go on will not do anything to increase public safety other than make some IT Contractors very rich and yes I am in IT, but I still think this should be scrapped and more practical and cost effective counter Terrorism systems put in place.
Anyone who disagrees then perhaps you would be prepared to put your credit card details and billing address on this blogg, I didn't think so and nor would I, but I would have more faith in the security of my data on this small web site then any massive Government IT project....
Oh yes of course the Terrorists will be honest about answering the questions!!!!
Especially objectionable are...
19. credit card number
22. itinerary and route
31. any other information the ticket agent considers of interest
45. any other biographical information
The e-borders data looks suspiciously like the Passenger Name Record (PNR) data that the US requires before the plane departs. Since the system they are going to buy is from an American company, it should not be that surprising. No doubt any UK customisation work will not go to British IT professionals but outsourced to India to screw up.
Once it is running we will have hours of fun with “Computer says no”, minimum wage idiots at every port making life difficult for everyone. By the time it is delivered, there will be ten years of meaningless data mining (also know as data dredging) reports for management and ministers to play with. If a regular flyer one day can’t get your normal flight, or seat, or fancy something different for your meal then you are going risk being stripped searched at the point of a gun and held in Belmarsh for 56 days (or whatever) while they investigate you.
