Yes George Dubbya's image adviser, Karen Hughes, has quit. Rejoicing under the title Head of Public Diplomacy she has watched Bush's and America's image abroad heading rapidly downhill.

Which goes to show that if you are a cr@p individual with cr@p policies it doesn't matter how much training you get in glibness and fast talk and spin... you won't fool everybody all the time and your misbegotten chickens will eventually come home to roost.

Are Broon's and Cameron's image advisers similarly struggling with their material?

In reply to 'yorker's point ...

> How do you think a d*ckhead like him
> got elected in the first place?

I think he got elected because his image adviser told him that if he behaved like an uneducated idiot 90% or the republican party would vote for him so he spent months learning how to dump his cultured ways and oxford english accent in order to play-act the role of a texan buffoon. But at least he knows there's no 'e' in potato. Well I THINK he does :-)

Or maybe I give these spin doctors more credit than they are due.

Im not shure he WAS elected, their was
wide spread talk of vote rigging in
(carolina was it?)and this was the pivotal
seat in a neck a neck race.If true i doubt
it was isolated.
That said i have watched film of his governership
of texas elections and irs like a different person.
Eloquant, cohearant and long fluant speaches without
notes.It suprised me.
Also he was agueing for social welfare reforms and
education budget increases,good issues.
I wonder if there have been any studies on what
the position s of power do to someones interlect
maybe only some people can cope with it,
.

Maybe John Prescott had more brains than we think when he called U.S. President George W. Bush "crap" and "a cowboy" at a private meeting of Labour MP's. Bush got his own back (I believe) by getting his mate, Philip Anschutz to stick the knife in firstly, the final twist was 'two jabs' sexual revelations. Ah! yes, remember John Reid, Ha, he tried to mend the brief UK/US divide by conjuring up the 'liquid explosives' plot on Atlantic routes - what a load of bollox!

Physics911comfan, the recount was in Florida in the 2000 presidential elections.

johnofgwent, I think anti-intellectualism is actually a vote winner to some Americans, especially those on the right.

Yorker, Gordon Brown's advisors are flogging a dead horse. Whatever number of image make-overs Brown has he will still look like yesterdays man. David Cameron for his part doesn't need any advice, he is very skilled at dealing with the media.
