Where can an English man live in England?

Posted by skegy on Thursday, 15 March 2007 20:46:50

Is there any place left for the English in England? Most places in England I would like to live, have different cultures. I happen to like my fellow English man and the culture we are were so renowned for.

I like those old smoke filled pubs in the country

I like to watch Morris dancers on a Sunday afternoon, while I have a beer

I like to see the Sally Anne banging away at the drum

I like seeing men fishing

I like to see families out together

I like to see children laughing and playing

I like the traditions of England and the wacky village sports days,

I like the way the English explored most of the world and conquered it.

I like the old and new English eccentrics.

I like to see English men shoulder to shoulder fighting tiriny

I like to see vicars ushering in his flock

I like to see farmers in the fields

I like English hero's such as Nelson

I like our present and past Kings and Queens

I like and admire Cromwell

I like Shakespeare

I liked the way English men/women stood up for those in need

I liked the way the English championed free speech

So is there a place in England like this, that's still left. Where can I find my own culture in this country or am I just expendable because I'm English in the way of an immigrant taking my place

The United Kingdom is not just 'England' - and what about the colonies - and what about history? we live in 'one world' now. We should all get along.

Canvas babe you really have no idea what you say, there just sound bites. You fail to see that people want to come to England because of it’s culture. That’s why we were one of the biggest tourist destinations ever. That culture is now lost.

My vision of a future England is base on the last 7 thousand years, yours on the last ten years. Then it will change again when we have a new ideas Prime minister. He/her will then tell you what to think.

When we finally get to where people like you want us to be, what then? Do you know? Or just waiting for some else to tell you? Tell what does the word “Spitfire” mean to you, or to any foreigner. What does Agincourt mean to you? What does the longbow mean to you? People like you spit on the graves of the dead who made this country. Not to mention the millions who died protecting this it.

If your not a patriot, What are you? I would love to know. I hope you don’t dodge the answer. The sad fact is you have no roots, your simply isolated floating alone in a sea of Blairism. You clearly do not want a nationality how sad is that.

You like and admire Cornwall? We dont tolerate the English west of the Tamar mate, and the South West is now remamed Libdemistan. Oh sorry, just noticed, you said Cromwell. ;-)

I like those old smoke filled pubs in the country - I like to hold my breath till I'm past them.

I like to watch Morris dancers on a Sunday afternoon, while I have a beer - they're actually called Morris, dancers isn't part of the real Morris. It's your culture apparently, so find out about it.

I like to see the Sally Anne banging away at the drum - assume you mean Sally Army? Band of hopeless.

I like seeing men fishing - why? Hook through the lips turn you on?

I like to see families out together - don't we all, but then so do Pakistanis, Iraqis, Kenyans, Belgians and even Americans. It's human.

I like to see children laughing and playing - ditto above.

I like the traditions of England and the wacky village sports days - ah the thwak of willow on leather, the balmy summer days round the village green, the spliff in the sun. Yes those traditions...

I like the way the English explored most of the world and conquered it. - really, including all the bloodshed, ruining people's lives, locking them up if they disagreed it was good for them, stealing their goods and shipping them home.

I like the old and new English eccentrics. - all countries have eccentrics, although some lock them up still.

I like to see English men shoulder to shoulder fighting tiriny - I like to see people capable of spelling in their native tongue.

I like to see vicars hushering in his flock - hushering, that a new word? Ah yes, as in quietly does it!

I like to see farmers in the fields - they're usually these days inside a monstrous machine smashing the land into submission, or on TV whining about not getting thiee handouts on time.

I like English hero's such as Nelson - English hero's what? The plural of hero is heroes. Hero's is possessive.

I like our present and past Kings and Queens - all the murdering bastards.

I like and admire Cromwell - clearly no Irish connection then, as he murdered the Irish like Sadam murdered Kurds.

I like Shakespeare - probably never read him though.

I liked the way English men/women stood up for those in need - when was that then? When they were making fortunes from slavery?

I liked the way the English championed free speech - and are still victimising people for exercising it.

Your name must be John Bull.

What a sad, sterile lonely man you sound. Your like a man without a country. I hope you will allow me to answer you in the same way you answered me.

"I like to hold my breath till I'm past them."
The biggest study ever done, 3 million people over a 20 year period proved there is no danger from passive smoking. Indeed the house of Lords said it was a government scam. I’d sooner believe them than you pal.

"It's your culture apparently, so find out about it."
HUH!

"assume you mean Sally Army? Band of hopeless."
I think the only hopeless one is you.

"I like seeing men fishing - why? Hook through the lips turn you on?"
Now these words came from your mind not mine. Bit kinky are you?

"I like to see families out together - don't we all, but then so do Pakistanis, Iraqis, Kenyans, Belgians and even Americans. It's human."
Did I say anything other “than families out together”. Your mouth is ahead of you brain.

"I like to see children laughing and playing - ditto above."
Wasn’t England recently labelled as unfit to bring up children. Yet we see countries like Holland the best. If I see any kid in this country laughing I see it as a miracle.

"I like the traditions of England and the wacky village sports days - ah the thwak of willow on leather, the balmy summer days round the village green, the spliff in the sun. Yes those traditions... "
In England we spell thwak as thwack In my day spliff’s never existed, what the hell were you smoking.

"really, including all the bloodshed, ruining people's lives, locking them up if they disagreed it was good for them, stealing their goods and shipping them home."
Hmm I remember when some nutter called Hitler started dropping bombs on us, hmmm ruining our lives, hmmm locking people up if they disagreed, hmmm stealing every thing they could lay their hand , hmmm seem to remember we stopped him, hmmm seem to remember lots of British dead, hmm Seem to remember Japanese troops catching babies on their bayonets. Hmmm how many Jews died, hmmm.

"they're usually these days inside a monstrous machine smashing the land into submission, or on TV whining about not getting thiee handouts on time. In England we spell thiee as their."
What English farmers asking for help. When we can get cheap food from abroad from people who work for a shilling a day. Shame on them.

"English hero's what? The plural of hero is heroes. Hero's is possessive."
Aren’t we the brainy one pity you have no common sense or is it séance.

"Your name must be John Bull."
Cor blimey gov is that supposed to be an insult.

To Skegy,
In England we also shorten "you are" to "you're" not "your" - hard to attack someone's English while making mistakes like that. Until the Americans polluted our language we also accpeted that the word Englishmen included the female population as the suffix 'man' has never been gender specific,

Posted by skegy on Friday, 16 March 2007 19:29:21

timbill I agree what you say. In my own case I was working at 14 putting money on the family table. Hard days and one of the happiest any kid could have. The English language developed and as you say declined in the past several years.

Timbill. You bet! I’ve worked offshore in the land of the Cornovii listened to many a good yarn and met some good men and women. We had a chief diver called Sam Hurn there wasn’t a night he didn’t drink you lot under the table. The amount of fishing net’s we salvage for the Cornish fishermen was amazing. And we didn’t charge them a penny. good people a little strange but ok.

Of course the Cornish have to challenge us it’s part of our history. Would I fight for the independence of Cornwall to govern it’s self. I sure would.

xenophobia – noun - an unreasonable fear or hatred of foreigners or strangers or of that which is foreign or strange.

Well Skegy,
England should keep its countries tradition, I agree but living in Wales, Im not really sure the English are
Patriotic and value what they have and their traditions and cultures that date back 100s of years.
I think I’m right when I say that most people living in England or who are English probably don’t know when you celebrate your Saint Day, and if they do how many take part in celebrating it?
Have you ever taken part in traditional folk dancing and when did any children of England take part in a traditional folk festival,do you know who all your past Kings and Queen are?
Your national anthem is even shared, and then the English are often seen singing the wrong words and havent got a clue what the second verse is.
The death of English Culture has only one nationality to blame for it and thats the English.

Happy St Patricks day to the Irish ....alhough He does really belong to us!

You are right the English have fallen way behind Wales and Scotland. The English are no more than Ming Mongs (and no that isn’t racist for the so sensitive English). It means a race of people who have no common agenda, each individual has their own agenda. So one could not call the Scots or the Welsh Ming Mongs because they have a common agenda.

However our English leaders recognise this by substituting a common agenda with empty ideas. Like global warming (I only use this an example and not as a fact) this way the English a coned into believing they have a common cause. Unfortunately the English like being conned as long as it is all together. Look for phrases like "we are all in this together" or "Its for the benefit of the country". It just a cheap replacement for patriotism. A common agenda is where people fight for the same cause be it old people, schools etc. It is people lead. As apposed to agenda’s being government led.

Skegy. too many people are slagging you off. am scots and say the English should respect and continue their culture. could you imagine us going to other countries and diluting their cultures no way would it be allowed. By the way english traditional pubs are better than ours. the days of the crime free streets of england are over. unfortunately this is due to the liberal thinkers getting their way with trendy modern thinking which aint for the best . keep blogging skeggy
