Speculation,speculation,speculation!

1 Tony Blair will resign in 3 weeks to allow someone else to head up the election campaign, leaving him to tiptoe gently over the 10 year mark the day after the result before handing over.

2 David will have a superb election in may and will use his new authority to hold a reshuffle that some on the right may find uncomfortable in order to accelerate his agenda.

3 The new leader of Labour will set on a strategy of renewal that will be a long slow faliure and suffer the fate of John Major in 97, ie backed into a corner.

4 David Cameron will serve as prime minister till 2020 and still be wise enougth to stand down when the country has some respect for him.

I thought the betting was for Tony to go in June/July? It doesn't make sense to launch the 2020 Labour website if he was going in a few weeks.

it doesn't make sense to launch that website full stop! LoL :)
It's dreadful.

I thought the other two comedians were behind the site.

I realise the consensus is on June, but I still think 3 to 4 weeks would make a lot of sense,

Why would he want to stand down after a hideous result, he could get forced out within days, what kind of legacy would that be.
If he stands down before the election Labour could repeat the conservative beauty contest and control the news all through the campaign, this would help the result and aid Tony.
It would also allow the to say whatever they wanted ( a classic liberal tactic ) which could boost support.
But above all it would alow Tony the chance to leave at a moment of his choosing when people wern't expecting it, the complete opposite of Thatcher, sealed as fact for all of time. ( And he would GUARANTEE his 10 years )

DON'T RULE IT OUT.

I envisage Blair will announce his resignation on 2 May (10 years to the day of entering the job). However, it will take a month or two for his successor to be elected.
