David Milliband

David has done so much damage to hisself in the eyes of the Brown camp that he would be mad not to run.

Even if he stood no chance of winning (and I'm not sure about that) he would raise his profile to a point where he could not be ignored. At the moment he is just a threat to Gordon's credibility but could easily spend years on the backbenches if he's not carefull.

He clearly has a lot more personality than weve seen so far.

Mind you, I think Labours defeat is almost a certainty now so Gordon may as well steer the ship to the bottom first!

I think we need to slow down on this speculation. Let's focus on getting David Cameron into Number 10 before worrying about who will be facing him at the Dispatch Box after 2009.

As I've mentioned before, although I think David Miliband is intelligent, fresh-faced and likable - his downfall is advocating yet another 10 years of New Labour. The Third Way had its heyday in the late 1990s in Britain and America - and Miliband would in my view be a rewind to 1997. There is a sea change gradually taking place from the centre-left to the centre-right in Britain now.

Your right I know, I just can't help myself.

As long as speculation of Labours future proves to be destabilising I feel compeled to join in and make the most of it, I promise as soon as it turns to be a productive exersise for them I will stop. :-)

I like David Miliband. I think he would stand a much better chance in the next general election than Gordon Brown. David Miliband should flex his muscles and give Brown a real hard time. Miliband falls into that Obama / Cameron new wave thing. :)

I suspect David Miliband knows Labour is bound to lose their overall majority at the next general election - so he is waiting a few years before he puts his hat in the ring.
