When does an Alien stop being an alien?

Posted by Alien on Friday, 23 February 2007 23:21:05

Dear David,

Not the question that I started out ask but it just came to me having festered in me for 65years.

I was brought to England from Burma at the age of 15 by my Parents and was then a British Subject.Went to the HMS CONWAY naval training ship for two years before going to sea. I left the Merchant Matine at 21 to get married (bad choice). Went to Home Office to get a passport to go to Australia and found out that I was an Alien and should have been reporting to the POLICE AT THE AGE OF 18. No one told my father who is a citizen of this country as my Mother was that their sons had to registered by the age of 18 to become British citizens. My brother fortunately was registered wiht a month to go, so he's alright. Funny thing i got my call up papers and when I protested they sqaid as far as the Army were concererned i was British.

I served in Egypt and Cyprus and was given the standard GSM and Bar with cl;asp Cyprus. But have remained an Alien ever since even though General Harding wanted to give a passport he was not allowed to do so. I hae been abroad on a travel document until it got a bit too hairy for me abroad with no protection of our Government..

I know have six children fourteen grandchildren and a three great grand children and thought that you may be able to help to end my days a a bone fide British citizen. What are the chances Mr Cameron.

Yours faithfully Peter Beresford Hayes

Have you tried writing to John Bercow, Conservative MP for Bucks? He has a special interest in Burma.

I think it is an absolute disgrace that you have never been given a passport and it should be put right straight away, see your MP or a lawyer for advise.
