Is this claim true? Is there really a proposal to restrict the use of photography in public areas?

Posted by canvas on Thursday, 22 February 2007 10:32:45

There are a number of moves promoting the requirement of 'ID' cards to allow photographers to operate in a public place.

It is a fundamental right of a UK citizen to use a camera in a public place, indeed there is no right to privacy when in a public place.

These moves have developed from paranoia and only promote suspicion towards genuine people following their hobby or profession.

The UK Government is about to propose restrictions on photography in public places which could make street photography and documentary photography against the law.

There's a petition on the Downing Street website against the Government's proposals to restrict the use of photography in public areas. The petition can be signed by UK citizens and residents.

If only all the other conspiracy theorists were so easily persuaded! :-)

Well, it's important to always question what you are told - and in this instance I failed. Hands up. Very unlike me - but I'm human! :) LoL Let's see if there is any truth to this statement...

Its ironic, all these people bashing "conspiracy" theorist warning about dictators and "free" countries.

Here we go again, more evidence, that our governments are merely a shadow to a much larger enterprise. Corporations, Big Banking, war Contracts( which gets the most funding every years everywhere), More control, more surveillance, more lies, more propaganda, more focus groups, more illegal arrests, more war crimes.

I think you all need to read some NOAM CHOMSKY and get up to date.

World DOmination has been a human hobby for thousands of years, why should think that its not alive today still? While we are so obsessed with consumerism, we are feeding the beast, and the government, they own us.

banks and big business own you, Free trade owns us, AUTHORITY owns you. Cops are above the law again, with guns in the UK thanks to the 7 7 bombings, just like they did in New York. I was at 9 11, it was martial law, they told us where to go with guns. it still is, they bled out the poor too from the city.

Please people, read some NoAM chomsky.

This is World war 4, people versus giant corporations and big business and economic dictatorships and all MAJOR PRESS OWNED BY 5 COMPANIES. All movie studios, all MAJOR PUBLISHERS, all MAJOR MAGAZINES.

Government is merely the shadow to big business. Government is not the substance

The biggest business is making weapons, and war.

WAR IS BIGGEST BUSINESS. OIL, WEAPONS, BANKS, industry, products

Anyone read CATCH 22?

please people read some Noam Chomsky, STOP DISCREDITING "CONSPIRACY", there not at all. Again and again, people warned everyone, and you didnt LISTEN TO "CONSPIRACIES" although most of em were hardly off target.

@Zambuca1

As someone who has a tendency towards socialism, I have a lot of admiration and respect for Chomsky's ideas, and share many of them. You often claim to have read Chomsky, and I have no reason to disbelieve you, but you seem not to have any great understanding of his ideas. Your contributions to WebCameron are characterised by a lack of rationality, empty sloganeering, ranting, and apparently RAndoM USE OF CAPITALisation. This marks you very clearly as an idiot who is not worth debating with, in the unlikely event that there was any substance to your contribution in the first place.

Regarding "conspiracy theories", I dismiss the outlandish claims surrounding 9/11 and 7/7. However, I don't doubt that there were significant failings by government and attempts to cover up these failings. I don't think our leaders are angels, and am aware of the military-industrial complex driving the USA. However, people such as yourself drown genuine debate in hyperbole and mistruth, discredit the progressive cause and thus help embed the status-quo. People like you are Bush's best friend. George Monbiot makes similar points in a recent article in the Guardian. I suggest you read it (and all the loony comments it attracted).

Fair enough :)

but i do read a lot, i read chomsky and tons of other literature.and i am not a socialist, cause i have never lived a socialist life. have you? I just read from as many perspectives as i can to understand these systems, like anyone else would do.

I like the way Switzerland deals with politics. Direct democracy, a federal republic. I guess there are many other forms of governemnents, there are so many now. we all know that. any kind of "ism". There are a lot of new ideas and models fo government, and many examples.

Other European countries have good examples of government

In Switzerland Everyone votes on any law, I voted against the EU. Anyone can propose a law.

Its hard to define a way of life and philosphy while having to live by a current countries system and economics and policitics etc. Its also hard, when systems sort of trap people in its dependence. you dont want to support many things but you are forced to find alternatives. Like food, for example. Or transportation. Or work. Or education. Or funds besides big banks.

Its also easy to compare me now to what Bush wants since i am his friend. What do Bushes friend want from me?

If so, discuss.

I am sure many would like to know what Bush friends wants as you claim to know. I guess you would say support "silly" conspiracies that were manufactured by them in the first place. Which is what happens all over the place.
Also what movement would i be destroying as the Article you gave.

"These conspiracy idiots are a boon for Bush and Blair as they destroy the movements some of us have spent years building"

What movements? which ones? there are thousands, which ones is this writer talking about?

Zambuca - I find Switzerland to be a cold and clinical country with little character. On the surface everything seems so nice and well ordered - but it's not really like that. I'm thinking about what a disaster "Needle Park" was in Zurich...
