- ID Cards are to go under the Conservatives. Even the Liberals haven't promised that they would scrap them if the plan was already in the process of being implemented.
- The sentiment behind Cameron's "hug a hoodie" loosely that society must show strict discipline towards and genuine affection and enthousiasm for the young, you'll struggle to find in Blair's Britain.
- We're not Labour. We don't rule by opinion polls. And we don't like spin.
- David Davis who has shown that you can stand in a marginal, campaign on issues from the right and treble your majority. The people need a lead with the message that it pays society and the individual to be socially conservative.
- Our euro-scepticism, tax-cutting, pro-business, Unionist, pro-Monarchy, countryside-loving instinct rules.
- Blair goes on a Berlusconi jaunt to Tuscany, Cameron to a Scania factory in Sweden. What does that tell you about the sort of country both leaders aspire for Britain to become?
- In local government, in the vast majority of cases, the two characteristics that Labour and the Liberals lack, respectively - 'fairplay' and spine - the Tories possess.
