Cameron Drugs 'shame'

Posted by trochir on Monday, 12 February 2007 15:41:42

The accusation against David Cameron relates to an incident when he was at school. If it related to now, that would concern me but we all make mistakes and he is as entitled to put his youthful mistakes behind him as the rest of us. Let's face it, if he did do it he isn't the only one. Cannabis was found by police in the private residence of Home Secretary John Reid a few months ago and no one made a meal out of that.

Why is smoking Cannabis a mistake, probably the most exciting thing he did at Eton!

There is no shame in doing something that both the World Health Authority and the British Medical Association have tested and found to be beneficial to your health

lol Stjimmy

I never studied as hard before in my life until I smoked Cannabis at college...

Got my Electrical Engineering cert and never got a zap either!

Ya, David's enlitened medicinal choice has led him to a larger role (metaphorically speaking... lol)

Whether you approve of cannabis use or not, it is against the law and people who aspire to make the law should obey the law. As a schoolboy he was not part of the law making process and any laws he may or may not have violated then have no relevance to his standing today.

According to the original "Law" (Gen 1:29), all plants and herbs and vegetation and...

Where given to man, it does not read at Gen 1:30, and Cannabis is forboden!

Research "Law", legal lies, are why people are dying.

Zero deaths directly attributable to Cannabis - Do the old math, 10 Commandments rock!

Why so many threads on one issue ? Isn't that counter-productive ?

This is an opportunity to break with the failures of previous drug policy. He should announce that he will be studying the successful Dutch drug policy model. Harm reduction rather than punishment has to be the way forward if he's going to be leading a caring society. Cannabis users have an unjustified bad reputation, but they comprise a significant percentage of the population. The cannabis users I know are good people and with one exception you wouldn't even suspect them.

The most important move DC can make politically is to distinguish himself from Blair. This is actually a good issue for DC to define himself.
