As usual some pretty straightforward answers, thank you...I think your star 'trainspotter' needs to explain why countries in Europe can run inexpensive and very efficient railway networks - yet we struggle to cope. Our trains are overcrowded, overpriced and usually delayed or cancelled on a regular basis. The leaves on the line cause chaos, the hot weather causes chaos, the cold weather, the 1/2 inch of snow, the rain, the wind blah blah blah.. Oh yes, and the 'no drivers available' chaos and 'signal failure' chaos. It's very 'British' - and pretty pathetic. We need to get our rail network into the 21st century. Hope you can make a difference.

Dear David,

Cannabis licensing is probably the best way forward. You made mention of, "scientists", "derivitives" (of Cannabis) and 'waiting' as it's not your call.

As a permanent self curing daily user of the home-grown medicinal herb, I'm standing to represent its medicinal benefits. Currently I don't have access to the scientists that have your ear on the THC-Delta-9 subject, however, I'd be more than willing to meet with them, to discuss my own personal positive experience with this peaceful and medative medicine.

Your probably aware now, of my qualifications and skills not least my religious upbringing. As a squeaky clean spiritual man and father (the dog counts), a meeting with yourself or your researchers both scientific and otherwise may break through, even ending the current Cannabis legality 'dead-lock'.

If by bringing about a Cannabis role-model and education with licensing we can get people to see a more enlightening side to politics, maybe bringing more people to a peaceful happy state with scociety, race, culture and living.

(a new video outlining the above, coming shortly from the Caribbean.)

One love & Peace

Thankyou for the long answers, it's nice to see the logic behind the decision

It's hard to talk to people who are so set in their opinions such as the cannabis and 9/11 posters, but I think you're holdiong up admirably. Otherwise, sensible thinking throughout.

Stu

P.S. canvas, perhaps the answer you seek lies in the fact that the Conservative Party aren't the government yet? Maybe if you vote for them, things will change... :-D

Yes Kozmic, I will consider voting for 'them' once DC gets people like David Davis and Liam Fox under control - by demoting them! LoL :) :)

Hi David,

Thanks for the response regarding 'safe standing at football.' I sincerely hope you do consider the proposals, the German model should be considered. I am veering towards the tories at the present moment because of the more libertarian policies. All the best David,

Regards,

Mark.

First Time Buyers are finding it really tough in the South East to get a house as prices are so high and they cannot afford the loans needed.

I was horrified to see a block of ordinary flats in London sold out almost immediately as Buy To Let investors ( many were of foreign origin) rushed to buy the places as an investment.

I think it is time to restrict planning permission in some low cost cases to Real people who need houses.

We may need more temporary basic accomadation for overseas workers but please lets stop the UK becoming an overseas investors paradise.

Not only over seas investors but I have a friend who has now purchased over 20 flats as an investment: she calls it her Pension Fund. Houses should be homes not investments and then prices would be more realistic.

What do you think David and can anything positive be done to help the housing crisis in the UK.

I have long been fed up with driving on our roads as I consider them unsafe and there are far too many lorries driving far too fast on our motorways.

I use the train a lot in off peak times and use a Rail card so get a nice discount. I avoid the peak times of Friday and Monday so find the travel comfortable and efficient.

The best rail link seems to me to be the Chiltern Line.

I hate seeing all the Graffitti and yobs on the trains plus feel we need more security staff on the railways around City areas.

I think the rise in London Tube fares is wrong as we should be looking at cheaper City transport as they have in the USA.

Flat fares and easy systems NOT profit.

David, you seem to be saying that the legal status quo on cannabis is pretty much your own position. Don't you realise that that position (and all other 'staus quo prohibiton) effectively commits you to the status quo of illcit production and marketting of such drugs along with that the dangers of impurity and criminality. Cannabis and other 'illicits' are not going to go away. You can't support one status quo without the other. Get real. Maybe you should read the first chapter of Dr Dave Boothroyd's recent book 'Culture on drugs: Narco-cultural studies of high modernity' (Manchester University Press) in which he makes it clear why being simply 'for or against' drugs is far to simple a position to take. It's that rhetorical nonsense that media is using to attack you right now, so now's your chance to challenge it!

Who cares if you smoked cannabis when you were a teen? Certainly not me! I'm ashamed to say that when I was a teen I did some things that I am not proud of, most people can probably say that too. Don't let them get to you David, you'll be tomorrows news soon enough, when they (the press) find someone else to try and pull to shreds. I think the majority of the British public feel exactly the same and are saying 'SO WHAT?' You won't lose my vote

The Hillsborough disaster was nothing to do with fans standing. The problem that day was incompetent policing & perimeter fencing. All seater stadia is a knee jerk reaction & if anything the seats make it harder for people to evacuate the area in an emergency.

Don't miss these
