Excellent.

"...we tend to want to share the proceeds of growth so we can keep taxes down - lots of areas of difference - really there's a fundamental difference the Conservative party under my leadership believes in social responsibility, that's actually trusting people and making sure that we can give parents more responsibility, parents, teachers and doctors in our hospitals and schools more responsibility. Labour believe in central control, in state control, so a big choice. A party which will go for state control, Labour a party which believes in social responsibility and sharing power with the people - the Conservative party - I think that's the key difference that you're going to see a lot of this year. "

I hope we are going to hear a lot more of that this year. I think if we get to a point of a general election with everyone voting understanding the choice that they're making the conservatives will be elected to Government.
I think the party's differences on the NHS database, national ID database and ID cards could be included in future explanations of the key differences - this is another area where Labour believes in excessive centralised power being held by the state to the detriment of individual freedom.

"Core subjects - English, Maths, History and Modern Languages."
I think missing out the sciences is appalling and shocking. If he'd left it at Maths and English - fair enough; but if he really thinks History is a Core Subject and Science isn't then that worries me.

Give the man a break! Answering multiple questions one after the other isn't easy and you complain about this?

"Answering multiple questions one after the other isn't easy and you complain about this?"

He's asking me and others to elect him to a position where he will be required to make multiple critical decisions one after another, so if you think he's been thrown by the presence of a video camera and that's put him under so much pressure that he's said the wrong thing / made the wrong decision then that is in itself worrying.

Perhaps under a little pressure we've seen a bit of what they guy really believes - maybe he really doesn't value the sciences / science eduction or those with an education in the sciences. Perhaps if he had more time to think about what he was saying he wouldn't have said it. If that is the case I do think it's a great thing that he's talking to us here in a direct and unguarded fashion; though being cynical I'm not sure that isn't all part of the act.
