NHS?

Posted by Jacada on Thursday, 01 March 2007 21:52:23

Will the conservative party be privatizing the health service if they come into power?

I have heard it will be and as a Conservative supporter this is one of the points that I was happy with as I think the NHS should stick around as health care should be avaliable to all.

Can anyone give any more information and what changes would be made to the NHS?

This is an old Labour scaremongering tactic. Labour have privatised the NHS more than the Tories ever would (PFI, cleaning contracts etc).
It would be interesting to hear what Cameron would do to save the NHS, but I doubt we'll hear much until the electioneering in 2010.

I dont understand what all the fuss is about: If taxpayers are fully paid-up, and still want to pay for private treatment, then that will leave a place in the queue for others. Just the same for schools and other services. Why does New Labour allow us to have first and second-class stamps, but holding back on allowing people to choose their health and school options. This is all a part of the envy-p[olitics, and makes for a thoroughly mediocre society. All grey and unrecogniseable, except politicians

NHS will not be free in forseeable futrue whether anyone likes it or not. Politician are shying away from this reality as its a sensitive issue with voters, but the economic reality will strike one day. And if one examines closely its already creeping in.

NHS dentistry is not free already. A crown used to cost about £90 and now costs about £180. The price went up under the new arrangements which was supposed to simplify the charging system.
