It is nice to hear that the Labour Party is finally doing the right thing, even if it was the idea of the Conservative Party. Just goes to show exactly what is going on within Labour if they are forced to adopt your policies and ideas. Keep yourself busy David! Your doing a quality job!

Hi David, you're doing a fantastic job, not just as Conservative Party leader and the Leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition in Parliament, but at ground level too as you mentioned you enjoyed doing in your latest blog. It is important to remember the famous quote by the late American congressman Thomas Phillip O'Neill Jr "All politics is local". I'm glad that you're loyal and dutiful to your Witney constituents, and I hope that you remember the importance of policy in the way it affects local people nationwide. I am glad that the Labour government have finally agreed to consider a Climate Change Bill, in my last comment I mentioned the importance of climate change in relation to the socio-economic life of the British people. I sincerly hope that you use your position as the Leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition to get not only a political consensus on this highly important issue, but a statement of Blair's commitment should he choose to back the proposed bill, I'm sure that I'm not alone in wanting more to be done in terms of green legislation, there was so much promise of such plans to tackle global warming, carbon emissions and climate change at the G8 Summit in Gleneagles, but so little has been done in reality. Blair mustn't make another emptry promise, and you should ensure that you take note of his emptry promises in PMQ's in which you've been contributing marvelously in scrutiny of the government. Best wishes,
Ben Franklin (17), Manchester.

Mr David Cameron,I dont know if you will read this, but if you do then you do i guess... anyway my name is gazwan aldafai, and i was born in baghdad, iraq, and migrated to this country when i was 5, after the first gulf war, as my father was a doctor here and felt it was no longer safe for the family to reside in such a country. I firstly wanna say i had no interest in the conservative party before you stepped into the light, i'll be honest if i can and say i didnt see mr michael howard as the leader of a country, but when you came on the block i really felt a connection with your personality and the things you said and wanted. I fully backed the coalition forces when they liberated my home country from the oppressors, who had destroyed a land of so much richness for over 35 years, in actual fact the day baghdad was taken over was the 9th April, which happens to be my birthday.... I backed our prime minister in what he felt he needed to do with the usa in iraq, even though i think the motives they gave for going in werent what they said and i think every iraqi knows that, but never the less they removed saddam, and freed our hearts of the pain. People ask me today and they say you should hate america, you should hate the uk, i always with a smile and say, i love america and i love the uk, for its the 'west' that has given me the freedom, the life which my cousins in iraq may never see, even though i come from the same background as they did, and i say to them people also that the leaders of the middle eastern countries dont give me hope, if anything they make me sad they want to hurt their own people. But the reason i think your such a legend if you dont mind me saying so sir, is that okay mr blair was great for what he did and i aint gona change on that, but the time has come where this country needs something new, and i thank our prime minister every day for choosing to go into iraq, but in all honesty, i think his time is up, and your time is begining, basically what im trying to say, is that im just a normal, civilised, liberal and democrat thinking british iraqi, who for once is pro war, but knows that what happens in iraq now, is such a shame but i say to sort this out is to rid this world of muslim extremism and this hate of the west, my hope is that you in due course will become the leader of this nation and sort the much needed internal affairs but also if you dont mind, because your one of the policitians i do actually trust, is if you got the time have a look at iraq and see what you can do. Finally, Mr cameron your a legend, and whatever any tabloid or broadsheet says, you will make a great leader, you do connect with the youth, these videos you are making are amazing, and whenever your in sheffield next, feel free my halls of residence are at your disposal, your a legend no doubt about it!!!Gaz, 19, studying Law at Sheffield Hallam

David,Interesting approach to being more open - you come across as a likeable guy and I'm compelled to write because for the first time in a very long time I'm beginning to find politics more interesting.I have a question for you. I understand that you do not want to make promises on tax as it is virtually impossible to predict what the world's financial situation will be at the next election, but will the Conservatives consider the situation where people who would not immediately be considered as "rich" suddenly find themselves in the 40% tax bracket because the Government have not moved tax bands in respect of wage increases and the gradual affects of (admittedly, low) inflation? This is quite an underhand method of taxing people.I'm not asking you to commit to back-dating tax threshold changes or anything so foolish, but this sort of hidden taxation sucks the ambition and drive out of many people when they approach the threshold and this absolutely cannot be in the best interests of a country which - without a strong manufacturing base - must rely on the drive of its people and allow them to reap the rewards of their efforts without being penalised because their salary now reflects that of someone in a relatively senior management position ten years ago.Fortunately, I am in a position where the tax band would need to be raised quite considerably for it to make much of an impact on me (all modesty aside), but I have people who work for me whose motivation seems to 'fizzle out' when their salary approaches the 40% tax mark. To a certain extent, I can understand their attitude (who wants to hand most of a hard-earned salary increase over to the tax man?) and if this is extrapolated out across the population then the tax take must tail off fairly rapidly as people 'take their foot off the gas' near to the 40% tax mark.I'm not asking for 'a penny off income tax' - just a re-assessment and adjustment of the tax bands as soon as it is financially prudent. Let's put a bit more ambition into UK PLC.

Hi DavidIf we don't sort the environment out soon then there isn't going to be a future for very many people. Please, please, please, step up your party's campaign for the environment, lead the way with good sensible policies and harrass New Labour at every opportunity (PMQ's etc.) to get this addressed and sorted out... URGENTLY! Policy example... There's lots and lots of open ground in the UK, we should be taking every opportunity to be planting as many native species trees as possible. If we leave it much longer then it will be too late. Grow trees, and plant them everywhere possible. All the best.

Wow! An office with a massive fireplace, how good is that? - - - OK seriously now, it's not just your policies that the Labour Party are swiping. For instance, it was the Official Monster Raving Loony Party who first came up with the proposal that pubs should be able to be open 24 hours (1997 manifesto), as weall know this has been implemented by Tony Blair's government. I think (although I can't find the reference) that it was them who suggested passports for pets too. - - - - - I don't live in Oxfordshire but I think it's good you're not ignoring Witney because of campaigning to become the next PM.

OK, I think you're on the right track here David - All the best with your revolution.
You are obviously completely committed to your party . I believe you are also committed to making the UK and the world a better place.
The younger generation will support you if your aim is true.
To bring serious issues into the nations consciousness you must first engage with the younger generation. I think you might be capable of doing this - and gaining their support.
You will have to try to understand and engage in what interests normal young people in the UK (not just geeky students lol)...music, fashion, art, sport (football of course), public transport, property, the internet, improving our quality of life.
This is why Jamie Oliver is so popular. He gets it and the public sense he is genuine.
I believe Jamie could be the next Prime Minister. But I think you might also stand a decent chance.

Sorry - one last point for David...We know that you have to get in the system to change the system. How does that old song go? ...if the kids were united - they would never be divided...Don't let us down - show us you care. Prove to us that we can trust you to make the world a better place. Be the spokesman for your generation and get us on side! The old Tory guard will never be accepted by the public. Break away!

Posted by canvas on Saturday, 14 October 2006 18:45:33

David, Do you have any influence with Steve McLaren? Can you start a Tory campaign to bring back DAVID BECKHAM to the England Squad? Go on! It's what the general public want. lol

David, the more I see this webcam, the more I see you're doing a great thing. It adds to 'honest politics' which we need so much. You come across as natural and sincere and that can only be to the good. Please continue to face this spin issue head on though, because only by doing so will you win the trust of the British public. I guess what I'm saying is, don't try to sell or market yourself too much - just be principled and competent.

Hi David,
Just found this, registered and thought i would say hello. I loved PMQ on wedndesday more of the same please!
I think the idea the is great for a high profile politician to be doing something like this, in my humble oponion it will go along way to help re-engage the public with the political engine of the country. I for one had even stopped listening to the likes of TB and his cronies as it seems they have lost touch with what really matters to people these days.
One intresting question for you, will you continue to do this blog WHEN you get the top job, because that will really impress!

Anyway keep up the good work.

Hi David,I recently joined the Conservative Party after being a supporter of its ideas for years. I would just like to say what a wonderful job you are doing in communicating with the population and in particular in addressing the issues/concerns of young people via "WebCameron". I for one will be absolutely delighted to see you elected Prime Minister and to see the Conservative Party back where it belongs.Just a shame your going to have to sort out a lot of the mess that Labour leaves behind !Good Luck with Everything David,John.

David, why not create state of the art sport centres for underprivileged children? Why not create state of the art hospitals (like France)? Why not get Jamie Oliver to advise you on school dinners? Why not get nurses and teachers to form a think tank for you? In fact, give them a payrise. Why not set up special schools in every county for dyslexic children? The Prince's Trust does good work - watch and learn. Why not make the National Lottery contribute to the new Sports Centres and the new state of the art hospitals? In fact why not make the National Lottery pay for the majority of things!? It's a poor mans tax anyway.

21st Century methods for a 21st Century Party. It is great to see how much you are envigourating the political debate and connecting with the voters. Like all the best ideas it is simple and it works. I hope you are able to keep it up as you get busier over the coming years. Suggestion: extend the ideas to the senior members of your cabinet, let George Osborne, David Davis, William Hague and the rest connect directly with the public and build the groundswell of debate and interst in politics and The Conservatives
